How players deposit

A deposit is money a player moves into their own account on the player site, through a payment provider. This page covers what that looks like and how to read a deposit that is stuck or has failed. For crediting a player yourself, see Crediting and debiting a player.

The methods a player sees

Which methods appear depends on the brand, the player's currency and country, and what the brand has switched on in payment settings. Broadly there are three kinds:

KindWhat it isConfirmed by
Fiat gatewayCards, UPI, local bank rails and vouchers routed through a providerThe provider, automatically
CryptoThe player sends crypto to a generated addressThe blockchain, automatically
Manual bank transferThe player transfers to a brand bank account and the platform waits for the moneyAn operator, against a bank reference

The first two confirm on their own. Manual bank transfer is the exception: it needs a person to approve it, and that is covered under Reviewing withdrawals and manual bank management. Every other method credits the wallet the moment the provider says the money arrived.

The lifecycle

A deposit is created as pending the instant the player starts it. From there:

  • pending → success — the provider confirmed the money. The wallet is credited, and if the deposit qualifies, a bonus campaign is evaluated.
  • pending → failed — the provider declined it, it expired, or the player abandoned it. The wallet is not touched.

A confirmed deposit can later be reversed (a chargeback, or an operator undoing it) or, for manual bank transfers, refunded. Both take the money back out of the wallet. A reversal does not un-happen the bonus or the play that followed it, which is why chargebacks need looking at rather than just clearing.

A deposit only credits real money

A deposit always lands in the player's real-money balance. There is no such thing as a player "depositing" bonus money — bonus money is granted, by a campaign or by an operator. See Crediting and debiting a player.

What counts as a deposit

Only a real deposit — the player actually moving money in — counts toward deposit totals, first-deposit metrics and affiliate attribution, and only a real deposit can trigger a deposit bonus. This matters most when you credit a player yourself: a correction or a bonus credit deliberately does not count, and will not fire a campaign. If you meant to reward a deposit and used the wrong type, nothing reports it. See Crediting and debiting a player and, for bonuses that did not arrive, When a bonus does not arrive.

Deposits made by an operator always count as fiat

When you credit a player from the admin panel, the platform books it as a fiat deposit, whatever method the player would normally use. A bonus campaign restricted to crypto can never match one — however correct the campaign is. Test crypto campaigns with a real crypto deposit on the player site. This is the same warning that appears in Building a campaign, because it catches people out repeatedly.

Limits

For manual bank transfer, each bank account carries its own minimum and maximum deposit, set when the account is configured. For the automated providers, minimums and maximums are enforced by the provider at its own gateway rather than by the platform, so they are not always visible in the admin panel.

Provider-level detail not documented here

The exact method list per provider, the callback each one sends, and per-provider fees live with the provider integration rather than in this handbook. What an operator needs — the lifecycle above and what counts as a deposit — is on this page. See Providers and settings for the provider list.
